The Perfect Day in Savannah, Georgia
If you want to experience the best of Savannah, Georgia, you can do so easily with a day-trip from our Bed and Breakfast. Savannah is less than 90 minutes from our Inn, so as soon as you’ve enjoyed breakfast with us, head out for a wonderful day of exploring. Savannah is the oldest city in Georgia and was established in 1733. It’s a stunning city and certainly worth your time.
When you get to Savannah, we recommend taking the Old Town Trolley sightseeing tour. It’s absolutely the best way to get a quick feel for the town of Savannah. The trolley makes 15 stops and includes over 100 points of interest along the way. You can hop on and off the trolley all day long, which means your day can be fully customized. In between your hops on and off the trolley, make sure you spend some time wandering Savannah’s rustic, cobblestone streets, and admire the delightful architecture around town.
Don’t miss your chance to walk through Forsyth Park in Savannah, home to an iconic fountain. The park is located in the town’s Victorian District, which in and of itself is a delight to explore. The Savannah City Market is a great place to head around lunchtime, as there are a number of shops to browse, and great places to grab lunch. Visit Savannah put together a great list of 5 places not to miss in the market. If you choose just to browse the market and want to lunch elsewhere, an excellent place to go is Broughton Street, a quaint part of town filled with boutiques and restaurants.
After lunch, head on over to Ellis Square to experience some of the city’s history. Spend as much or as little time here, before heading to the American Prohibition Museum. When you’re done, be thankful this era is over and celebrate at a neighboring 1920s-style speakeasy, Congress Street Up. It is the perfect place to unwind and grab an afternoon cocktail. If you’re sticking around until evening (which we recommend), head over to River Street for a beautiful stroll along the water, followed by a delicious dinner. This is where you’ll find Factors Walk and Factors Row, which is a unique collection of red brick buildings. This area used to be the center of commerce for Savannah’s cotton factors, and it was also home to the original Cotton Exchange.
Savannah at night is an interesting place to be. It’s long been considered one of America’s most haunted cities. Stick around after dark, and take a Ghosts and Gravestones Tour. You’ll never think of the city in the same way again! When all is said and done, it’s time to make the drive back to our Bed and Breakfast. You’ll be ready to sink into our luxurious accommodations and enjoy the most restful night of sleep you’ve ever had away from home.
