"The Horse Stamp Inn – A wonderful B&B with a terrific Stay and Play package"

Only 25 miles north of the Florida border from Jacksonville off I-95, this Southern plantation style mansion is a first class inn. Although the mansion itself looks like a fully restored Civil war residence, it is in fact an incredibly designed newer home with the feel of history.

The long entrance driveway to the mansion provides an immediate feel of Gone with The Wind and knowing you have arrived at a very special place. A large porch entrance greets you where you can spend hours on the rocking chairs taking in the beautiful horse farm-like setting surrounded by woods. Although it looks like you will be greeted by Rhett Butler and Scarlet O’Hara, you are warmly welcomed by owners Tom and Chris Hutcheson. Then, you enter into an environment where ever room is a major “WOW” of impressive southern charm, comfort, relaxation, and knowing you definitely came to the right place.

Main floor living areas are perfectly decorated and furnished to invite you to put your feet up, kick back, and enjoy your getaway. Your only challenge is having to pick which couch, chair or rocker to start with. 2nd floor bedrooms are elevator accessible and all uniquely designed with every comfort you could ask for including a wonderful verandah to enjoy the outdoor surroundings of your quiet getaway.

Your day starts with a home cooked breakfast in the expansive modern country kitchen where you can just hang out around the center island and chat with other guests and owners Tom and Chris while they prepare your breakfast. It doesn’t get better than this to appreciate the welcome feeling throughout the Inn. And yes, the breakfast eggs are fresh from the on-site resident chickens. And their breakfasts are amazing.

Your on-site day can be spent at the pool (in season), walking the grounds to enjoy the lake where fishing can be done, a small shooting range in the back of the property. Try a visit with Belle Fleur- the resident horse. Carrots are always welcome. You can help feed the chickens. And you can kick back with a good book in the many well-appointed first floor living rooms, or on the expansive front porch complete with rocking chairs.

Off site, St. Simons and Jekyll Islands are a short hop away and are some of the best beaches you will find on the east coast. Local upscale restaurants are abundant and within short driving distance. But we do recommend the dinners at the Inn as well. For golfers, their Stay and Play package includes golf at Sanctuary Cove Golf Club which is only 8 minutes away. If you haven’t played there, it is a must play and is as good as it gets for every golfer’s playing level.

The only other challenge you need to prepare for is leaving. It’s tough to do although you can always go back for more. For additional information, visit their website at
