Country Chic Barn Weddings in Rustic Southeast Georgia

Let's face it, the last thing you want as you celebrate your special day is a stiff affair reeking of staged propriety. There's nothing phony about you, your intended, or your love for each other—it's the forever-and-ever real deal. Authentic. Genuine. And that's the way your wedding should be.

However, as much as you want your wedding to be real and reflect who you are, it is the most important occasion of your life and it needs to be marked as special. There’s no better way to keep it real and make it special than to choose a setting whose casual elegance and rustic charm will set your day apart like no other—the Horse Stamp Inn.

Set in the quiet hamlet of Waverly in rural southeast Georgia, the property was chosen by Innkeepers Tom and Kris Hutcheson for it's idyllic grace and relaxed country charm. When they were searching for a place that would bring their dream of a bed and breakfast into reality, Georgia wasn't even on the map. It was on a last minute side trip that Tom who first scouted the place. He recounted his first impression: “Coming up the driveway, I said, ‘This is so cool! We wanted a place for weddings and corporate retreats with a plantation feel. It was a very lovely home.'” And it was just what they were looking for.

You'll love this place! Turning into the drive just a few minutes from Interstate 95, you and your guests will enter the grounds where some of the best memories of your life will be made. The lane, framed by crepe myrtle trees, takes you past the tree-studded meadows where their horse, Belle Fleur, can generally be seen grazing peacefully. The two story plantation-style mansion is straight ahead, with a classic four-tiered fountain standing out front as a promise that something special awaits you inside.

Storybook Wedding Settings

The serene natural beauty of the grounds and the casual elegance of the house offer no shortage of backdrops where you and your beloved can exchange vows. You can choose from the rustic country chic of the Barn, the relaxed charm of the Veranda, the classic tranquility of the Fountain, or the quiet shade of the Oak Canopy—and that’s just a few of the choices. The innkeepers offer packages that include everything from valet parking for guests to a horse drawn carriage, music, and catering.

Accommodations

The Inn can lodge up to 10 guests between the bridal suite and it's four regular rooms. Each room has a private bath, billowy feather bed with luxurious 600-thread-count linens, walk-in closet, flat-screen TV, and WiFi Internet access. The bridal suite is a relaxing oasis where the bride is surrounded by comfort, from the tourmaline bath to the French doors opening onto her private veranda overlooking the scenic grounds. The room is very big, with plenty of room for the bride's trousseau and for the bridesmaids to help as she prepares for her wedding day. Included with the room is breakfast, which you can take in your room, in the large family kitchen, or on the veranda. Much of the food is prepared from locally sourced, farm-to-table ingredients with many items coming right from the Inn itself—fresh eggs, vegetables, herbs, and blueberries—when they're in season. Additional accommodations are available for extra guests a short, 20–35 minute drive away in the cities of Brunswick, St. Simons Island, Jekyll Island, and St. Mary's.

Dining

You can do it up any way you see fit right at the Inn—from grits to gourmet, the staff of the Horse Stamp Inn has the resources and contacts to get it right. Talk with Tom and Kris about what you have in mind and let them explore the options with you. There is no shortage of options for dining out. A local favorite is a meal at Captain Stan's Smokehouse in nearby Woodbine, which features a bonfire; your host, Captain Stan; and what is reputed to be some of the best BBQ in coastal Georgia. The nearby Golden Isles feature a nice variety of places to eat out, from the locally inspired haute cuisine of the Echo Dining Room in The King and The Prince hotel, with it's expansive ocean view, to the Palm Coast Café, a local coffee shop and taverna that features very good espresso, live music (call for dates) and an excellent menu where the key word is fresh. And of course there’s Iguanas, popular for seafood.

Activities at the Inn

Although the favorite sanctioned activity at the inn is lolly gaggin', there's no shortage of fun ways for you and your wedding party to create lasting memories. The downstairs rooms are available for board or party games. And if you're looking to burn off all that great food, there's the inn's 21-foot power boat for skiing, tubing, and joyriding; trails for walking (and, if you brought your horses, riding); or outdoor games on the lawns surrounding the house. With 16 acres of natural beauty, there are plenty of options available. Just talk with Kris or Tom for ideas. The opportunities for day trips abound. The Golden Isles have many well- developed recreation opportunities and offer a boatload of good times for all age groups. Although there are more events in the warmer months, the region offers year-round fun. With its mix of casual elegance and rustic charm, the Horse Stamp Inn is the perfect venue for your country chic wedding. Contact Kris or Tom today to make sure your date is open.
